Gold Country Ghost Tours brings Auburn's darker history to life through a theatrical guided walk and a separate live stage show, both set in Old Town. The roughly two-hour walking tour visits about ten notorious historic sites where costumed actors portray real figures from Auburn's past, telling their stories rather than relying on haunted-house gimmicks. Check-in is at the Historic Courthouse, with small groups rotating through the stops. The companion stage show, also about two hours, takes place at the historic Odd Fellows Hall, in use since 1895. Operating since 2016 and now in its tenth year, the experience directs its proceeds to local nonprofits supporting children and families.
